Alice Sixbey is a Maryland licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) specializing in the treatment of anxiety, phobias, marital issues, depression, and other mood disorders. Alice obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from Concord University and further graduated with a Master of Social Work from West Virginia University. She has completed a certificate in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy from Behavioral Tech and practices using evidence based therapies.
Alice has worked with a variety of clients in mental health settings including veterans experiencing combat related trauma with the Veterans Health Administration and active duty service men/women with the Naval Family Advocacy Program. She has had additional work experience at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and community outpatient mental health clinics. In these settings, she has had experience working with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, stress/anger management, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, domestic violence, grief and loss, and end of life issues with geriatric clients.
Alice’s therapeutic approach is one that provides a supportive environment to facilitate a decrease in symptoms of stress and anxiety with an increase in emotional self regulation, resiliency, mindfulness, to reach a goal of positive health behaviors. This approach assists clients with action oriented plans to develop strategies and techniques to help them attain their therapeutic goals.
At the Clear View Counseling Center, Alice provides psychotherapy to older adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, phobias, depression, PTSD, grief, and marital issues.
