Knox PhotoHeather Knox is a Maryland licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C). In 1992, Ms. Knox earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland.  Immediately thereafter, she enrolled in Florida State University where she earned a Masters in Clinical Social Work in 1994.  While in graduate school, Ms. Knox trained at Brehon Family Services in Tallahassee, Florida, where she worked with pregnant teenagers, providing psychoeducation to help her patients gain the skills necessary to parent their babies effectively.

Ms. Knox has amassed over 20 years of clinical experience and training working with individuals and families.  She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings.  She is skilled in the treatment of a variety of diagnoses and presenting issues including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, relationship issues, grief, and parenting issues.  Moreover, Ms. Knox worked at the America World Adoption Association, where she gained extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of international adoption.  In her professional capacity there, Ms. Knox worked with families to help prepare them for their adoption.  She also assisted in working through difficulties that sometimes arose post-adoption, an occurrence that was particularly common among children who had been institutionalized prior to adoption.

When working with patients, Ms. Knox likes to start where they are, and where they feel they need the most help. She combines her empathic listening skills with her ability to help her patients create solutions to the issues that may be blocking their ability to enjoy life to their fullest potential.

At the Clear View Counseling Center, Heather provides individual psychotherapy to adults presenting with an array of issues including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, women’s issues, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, family conflict and relationship issues.  She is passionate about working with trauma and specializes in the treatment of PTSD and domestic violence.  Ms. Knox lives in Annapolis, Maryland.  In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, reading, watching movies, and playing with her dogs and cats.
