Meredith H. Braden is a national certified counselor and licensed graduate professional counselor with more than five years of education and experience in the mental health field. She attended Virginia Tech where she earned her bachelor’s degree in International Studies. After college, she went on to earn her first Master’s degree in Public Policy from George Mason University and worked internationally. She later followed her dream of working in a helping-profession by returning to school to study counseling. Ms. Braden attended Wake Forest University where she earned her Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
In addition to her graduate education, Ms. Braden has specialized training in the areas of trauma and play therapy. She has completed Level 1 Trauma training at the Ferentz institute and has completed training with Maryland’s Trauma, Addictions, Mental Health, and recovery program. She has also completed Level 1 TheraPlay training for mental health treatment with children.
Ms. Braden has experience providing counseling and psychotherapy in various settings including outpatient mental health clinics and school-based programs. She has experience treating issues including anxiety, depression, family challenges and transitions and behavior issues.
Ms. Braden enjoys working with clients of all ages to explore the challenges they are facing, determine their social and emotional needs, and create a plan for growth and achieving their personal goals. She also has a passion for working with children, families, couples, women’s issues across the lifespan, and grief and loss issues.
Meredith’s approach is Person-Centered with an emphasis on establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship, exploring family of origin issues and client resources, and equipping clients with the coping skills they need to address problems and live life more fully. She also incorporates Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Wellness Model, and Mindfulness exercises in her work.
