Shannon Selwyn, LMSW
Licensed Master Social Worker
Shannon Selwyn is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Maryland. She graduated with her Master of Social Work degree in 2015 from The Catholic University of America in Washington DC. Shannon has advanced training in the provision of mental health services for patients struggling with grief and loss and has earned certification as a Grief Counseling Specialist (CGCS). Shannon provides psychotherapy for individuals throughout the lifespan. She is experienced with children and adolescents struggling with mood disorders, trauma, bullying, and social issues; adults battling depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar and personality disorders. Shannon also specializes in treatment of older adults, individuals with chronic physical conditions, and families addressing end-of-life issues and grief.
Shannon has a background in settings such as an outpatient mental health clinic, therapeutic alternative school for children with emotional challenges and autism, and assisted living facilities with older adults diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
In addition to a strong Cognitive Behavioral approach to therapy, Shannon is passionate about mindfulness and enjoys incorporating that into therapy. She strives to help individuals, couples and families reach their most healthy potential through a variety of change-based and strengths-based models of therapy as well as a supportive therapeutic alliance.
