Expectations for Your First Appointment:
To schedule your initial appointment as a new patient, kindly reach out to us via email or voicemail with your name, age, and a brief description of your therapy needs. At Clear View Counseling Center, we understand that therapy is a unique experience for each individual, and the compatibility between the patient and provider is essential for positive outcomes. Once we receive your message, we will assign an available provider who will contact you to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to assess the compatibility between you and the provider. If it’s not a good fit, your provider will help match you with another provider, if available.
After the phone consultation, your provider will collect your insurance information to verify your benefits, and inform you of any potential expenses, such as copays, co-insurance fees, or deductible costs, before the initial appointment. Additionally, your provider will send you the necessary paperwork via Docusign and schedule your intake appointment. You will receive an email with a link inviting you to create a patient portal account. Please sign up within 24 hours of receiving the email as the link will expire. Kindly ensure that you complete all opening paperwork before your first appointment.
Your patient portal account provides access to various functions, including scheduling, payment of copays, and telehealth appointments. If you encounter issues accessing your portal, please contact your provider, and they will reset your password. You can always find your provider’s contact information on here
In-Person Appointments:
Please arrive early enough for your appointment, and note that our location is 1819 Bay Ridge Ave., STE 190, Annapolis, MD, 21403, adjacent to the SPCA. We have ample on-site parking, as well as an overflow parking lot across the street. Once you enter the building, take the first left, and our suite, STE 190, is the first door on the right. Please use the iPad in the waiting room to check-in, and your provider will accompany you to their office.
Virtual Appointments:
If your first appointment is virtual, please log in to your patient portal account to access your telehealth link.
The Initial Appointment:
Your first appointment is 60 minutes long and begins with your provider reviewing your patient rights and responsibilities and explaining the extent and limitations of confidentiality. Then, your provider will conduct a biopsychosocial evaluation, asking several questions about your background, family history, and reasons for seeking therapy. This process will provide your provider with a comprehensive understanding of your circumstances and inform your treatment plan.
After the evaluation, you and your provider will collaborate on treatment goals. At the end of the session, your provider will offer a recurring weekly appointment. If your schedule is unpredictable, you can use the portal to request future appointments.
Subsequent Sessions:
Subsequent sessions are 45-55 minutes long and considerably less structured than the initial appointment. Each patient’s experiences and problems are unique, and our therapists tailor treatment approaches to meet individual needs. We take pride in our integrative approach to therapy and utilize various methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Brief Psychodynamic Therapy, and Trauma-informed Care. Depending on your needs and symptoms, therapeutic assignments may be suggested between sessions.
